Plaster
Plaster has been used since the dawn of civilization. It has been used to make buildings dry, warm, clean and fire resistant. The original plasters consisted of either clay or lime or a mixture of the two. In the past 100 years plaster has gone through many changes. In most cases the changes were made in order to make plaster cure faster and require less skill to apply-- these plasters include cement based plaster and other forms of synthetic stucco, sheetrock and sheetrock mud, and synthetic forms of Venetian plaster. These changes have had its effect on the plaster's longevity, its ability to deal with moisture and its aesthetic value. Instead of trying to make these new plasters look and work as well as the old plasters, we have chosen to start with the age old materials themselves: Clay and Lime. Between these two basic materials we can create thousands of beautiful finishes for interior and exterior walls and ceilings.
